Durga |
| Durga, a deity of the India, is one of the embodiments of compassion.
She is the seeming opposite of Kali, who is known as the destroyer, yet
she and Kali are one. When you are attached to a desire, Kali will
come and give you that desire in such abundance that it will sicken you,
dis-ease you, and may well kill you. When you have that same desire,
but you have no attachment to it, then it is Durga who visits you and brings
you the gentle blessings of life, balance, harmony, compassion.
She may be likened to the Mother Mary of the Christian Faiths. The nature of these divinities is multiple leveled and they are understood by us all in very different ways. For instance, for the person who is fundamental in their belief patterns, Durga (or Mary) will be a very personal being. Indeed, the divinity may well visit the person Îin personÌ. Also, for the person who is less fundamental in their ways, the divinity may be a ÎqualityÌ of the heart. This person will be touched by the winds of intimacy with the depth and wisdom and magic those qualities embody. Both ways of having a relationship with the divinity are true. Both are false.
