Notes
This is the simple version and works quite well, especially when working with people new to the dance and when the focus of the facilitator is enjoyment, trust in oneís self, and keeping the energy of the circle in the body and heart rather than in the business of the mind.
'AJDE JANO
Let us Dance Yana
Traditional Serbian Tune from Kosovo.
Symbolizes the Dionysian joy of life, music and dance.
The tune is played in 7/8 rhythm, characteristic for
Kosovo and Southern regions of Serbia.

This Serbian dance calls to Jano to "come, sell the horse, sell the house,
only dance!" Perhaps a reckless sentiment, but imagine the beautiful life of
community that would have occurred had the Serbs hearkened to this call
rather than to the call to war.
The following is a simplified version of the dance. Sacred Circle Dancers
will often simplify a traditional dance so that it may be taught in a minute
or two ... or simplify it so much that it need not be taught at all! Unlike in
traditional folk dance circles (and thank goodness for the traditionalists!)
the focus in Sacred Circle Dance is to GET PEOPLE DANCING-to move directly
into the energy and experience of the dance, away from the evaluations of
the mind and into the living hearts of the community gathered. It is not as
important to dance the dance correctly as to join in the joyful experience
of The Dance.
One evening I taught a not too tricky but certainly lively Celtic dance. One
certain fellow just could not get the dance, so he ended up simply jumping
up and down and run-skipping this away and that. His joy filled and childlike
energy was so infectious that those of us who knew the dance quite well
experienced the dance to a new, deeper and more alive level. That evening
the fellow in his beautiful ignorance was our teacher.

This simplified version is an excellent dance to use when facilitatng a session in Dance Therapy.
