Notes
Julienne was an Anchorite, a hermetic of the cathedral in Norwich,
who --- by her words, her wisdom and her life ---
guided her community through an age of darkness. Her life is well worth investigating.
ěRing out, bells of Norwich
and let the winter come and go
All shall be well again, I know.î
The dance is easy, fun, and of all the dances I know perhaps most easily builds the greatest joyful hope within the participants of the circle.
* Pronounced "Norwich" - the w is silent!
This song commemorates one of the wise women who, when her society was in
time of need, held high the light of hope.
Julien of Norwich, though cloistered, guided her community through the dark
era of the plague. Simply with acts of kindness and words of hope she
offered her community the fiber of peace and strength to help one another
and to come through their time's tests.
Words in English
1 Loud are the bells of Norwich
And the people come and go
Here by the tower of Julian
I tell them what I know
Ring out, bells of Norwich and let the winter come and go
All shall be well again, I know.
2 Love, like the yellow daffodil
Is coming through the snow.
Love, like the yellow daffodil
Is lord of all I know
CHORUS
3 Ring for the yellow daffodil
The flower in the snow
Ring for the yellow daffodil
And tell them what I know
CHORUS
All shall be well, I'm telling you)
Let the winter come and go )
All shall be well again, I know )
