I (Shaker) first learned this when studying with Yakzan Valdez,
now gone on, of Brazil and Hawaii.
Yakzan made it very apparent, with kindness,
that the sufi partner dances were not created to be an opportunity
to oogle one another,
rather they are to be partaken in in a kind of emptiness (annihilation,
as the Mideastern Gnostics would say)
wherein one witnesses the quality of another.
During the spin, annihilate yourself in The One.
During the partnering, witness yet another manifestation of the
Myriad.
