Alternative music would be Gabrielle Rothís Rowan (a fast version)
or her Door (a slow version), as well as many another song, depending
upon what quality of union with self and earth the facilitator is cultivating.
An even better version o the song for this dance is to pick up
some drums and dum it yourself. Introducing voice into a dance can heighten
the depth of the experience.
In this dance perhaps suggest that the people make the sounds (or
the breath sounds) akin to the element in each phase of the dance.
This is one of those dances that is at once lively and meditative,
it is a modern choreography by Lynn and Isla of Vermont. I will
often use
this dance either in context with dances of the earth, when working
with
trance dance, or in circles where I am attempting to facilitate
the opening
of people to the Union of Spirit and Matter. As the first phrase
of the
ancient Aramaic version of the Christian prayer, The Our Father
says: "Awoon
Dwashmaya" - "O sweet creator, you who permeates the universe"
A great dance for joy and grounding.
