Notes
A beautiful couples dance, the music and the movement of the dance
lends itself well to the facilitator who is cultivating the openness of
the heart. It is a bit difficult for circles to learn, however, so if you
are facilitating a circle that is already too much in the head (rather
than in the depth of the Heart and the Body) it would be best not to attempt
to teach this dance lest you activate overly the linear thought patterns.
Also, no matter when teaching the dance, allow at least fifteen minutes
for the teaching. In an inexperienced circle there is no need to change
partners. This can cause too much confusion and you will run the risk of
sparking feelings of self doubt among members of the circle prone to such.
This said, once a circle has learned the dance (or at least half
the circle who can then carry the others), it will be a favorite of the
circle and will lend itself time and again towards the cultivation of a
soft and sweet opening of the heart.
If your intent is the opening of the deep Heart, do remember that,
like the Dances of Universal Peace, the eyes should not meet in an empty,
general oogling manner, but rather in a compassionate witnessing that sees
the Divine Beauty of the Partner. By not being aware of this differentiation,
many a facilitator has destroyed the capacity of many wonderful couples
dances to do anything but create empty smaltz.
Stefan says that the dance is about
Malcolm ìwho goes to sea fishing,
and whose safe return is longed for.î
