Notes
The steps are a variaton of the dance called 'Winds
on the Tor '.
The music is light, free and somehow reminiscent of the child spirit.
An excellent transition dance from the livelier part of an evening (usually
the first part of an evening) into the more meditative part.
.
The usual stricture of a dance session will follow this form somewhat.
During the opening of an evening there will be very simple dances.
This allows people to begin to feel secure in their capacity to partake
in the circle. One of the objectives is to support people in honoring
themselves, to allow them to shake the dust of the daily concerns from
their shoulders, to allow their child hearts to re-open. Sometimes
the opening dances are soft and prayerful, sometimes light and playful,
depending upon the mood of the people that evening and depending upon the
qualities the facilitator wishes to cultivate in the evening.
.
As the evening progresses more complicated dances may be entered
into as long as the circle has the capacity and there is not an undo mental
activity (which would keep people in the mental mode rather than allowing
them to sink softly into the feeling of their hearts and bodies).
.
There may or may not be a tea or juice break in the middle of the
evening. Again, this would depend upon the energy of the people present.
Most people are not used to dancing for several hours running. Sacred
Circle Dance is much more about affirming the Inner Qualities and Community
than about learning dances.
.
The end of the evening, after the people of the circle have shaken
the dust, have begun to feel at one with themselves and with the community
of the circle, usually is comprised of slower meditative dances and ends
with a very simple contemplative movement such as the Midwives
Dance.
