Notes
The stompings of the Robin (a name given to the children of the
Beltane Fest ... as in Robin Hood ... Hood also being a Beltane Fest name)
are actually the stompings of the Sacred One awakening the earth in Spring.
This dance is evolved from Morris DAnce.
During the ancient Beltane Fests, the community often went into
the fields and woods to make love with someone who was not their ongoing
life partner. This was in the hopes of and celebrations of the Sacred Fertility
of the Goddess, who gives and takes all. Children who were a result of
this fest were considered Sacred and bore syllables in their names such
as Hud, Hood, Child, Goodchild, Robin, Hodge. This is the origin
of the character who became our mythic 'Robin Hood', the Man of Green,
the Man of truth, service to the community, one with the land, in righteousness.
The dance is quite lively and fun. A good one to break into an
evening or to pull out when things are getting all too serioucity.
Sing ìHey dee Ho, a hey dee hey dee ho!î when doing the
side step leap lifts.
