Kali, it may be be said, is the dark side of the goddess in India.
Durga would be considered the Light or Compassionate side of the
Goddess.
Actually, the two are aspects of the same divine giding force.
She gives you whatever you ask for in attachment. And she gives
it in abundance! So much abundance, in fact, that it will make you sick
or kill you. Durga (Kali in the aspect of Divine Compassion) will
give you a drink of water when your soul thirsts; where-as Kali will tbring
a tidal wave to consume your whole house when your thirst is born of greed.
She is the Destroyer. All that will be left of you when she is done with
you is dust ... and the diamond of your soul.
Dimna Juda may be said to be a Balkan
incarnation of Kali, though the modern Balkan myths have lost the depth
of the ancient original.
