Origin---Gnostic

Notes
This dance was taught to Shaker by Yakzan Valdez,
a sheik in both the Mevlana and Chisti Sufi Orders,
as an ancient Gnostic - mystic meditation dance from old North
Africa.
The outer walking circle was an adaptation by Shaker.
Originally done to traditional music of North Africa.
I have found it bet to start the outer circles ... three or more
going in alternate directions is best ... and then ... at a given signal
... have seven or so people who already know the inner movement and can
move through it in unison (this is very important to the effect of the
dance) move in and begin the candle inner circle. At the same moment or
just before have the inner Pole go to the center and begin a very slow,
conscious and balanced turn. I choose the central person for their purity
of heart. They can be a liar, a neíer-do-well, a person inept of dance
... none of this matters. It is the purity of heart that is most important
for the central personís quality.
