This dance is another one of the gems brought forth by Lea Rowan
North.
I will forever remember the evening she brought it forth. She and
six other women performed it before the dance camp. When the dance was
done, there was total stillness. Then the nine year old son of one of the
dancers got up, made his way slowly through the seated people and hesitatingly
to his mothers side. The whole camp was still in silent awe, so we all
heard quite clearly the little boy whisper to his mother:
ìMom ... when did you become a priestess?î
Later, on the moon dark dew grass, we all danced the Shift together.
This is also a beautiful dance to be in witness to. (see glossary)
