Vranjanka

Associations---Serbia Love Song
Tapes Found On---Camp 94 Camp 96
Origin---Serbia
Choreographer---traditional
Notes

The song for Vranjanka is usually different than the song for Cano Duso
Vranjanke means a young woman of Vranje (a village in southeast Serbia)
The whole dance has a languorous, oriental feel to it. All movements are
relaxed and flow from one into the other.
This version is not the original version of South Serbia, but is close.

Words in Native Tongue
Volela me jedna vranjanka.
Kraj nje mi je dus"a ostala.
Nit' je Sofka, nit' je Kos"tana,
Vec' najleps"a Jela, Jelena.
Nit' je Sofka, nit' je Kos"tana,
Vec' najleps"a Jela, Jelena.
REFREN
Pusto! Pusto!
Pusto mi je sve!
Nema! Nema!
Nema moje Jelene!
Dodji! Dodji!
Dodji Jelo Jelena!
Ti si moje srce odnela! :|
Sve bih dao kad bih saznao,
Ko je moju Jelu ukrao
Od svih leps"a Jela, Jelena.
