Return to Holy Mountain
The East Coast Sacred Circle Dance Camp
2004
Friday, July 30th to Friday, August 6th

The facilitators and some of the active staff of
the Sacred Circle Dance Week at The Abode are:
Martinne Winnington
Last year Martinne visited Touchstone and offered a weekend event in sharing the Bach Flower Remedy Dances.   The weekend was so special --- Martinne so gracious and joy-filled --- the dances at once so delightful, sweet and deeply life-filled, that we asked her to come again and be with us for the entire week on Holy Mountain.

Martine Winnington lives in Switzerland and teaches circle dance internationally.

She combines a thorough knowledge of the Bach Flower remedies with a holistic approach to health and personal development. She trained in different dance styles and traditions with many teachers. She now promotes and develops Anastasia's work, marveling at the healing qualities of these dances.
She sees dancing as a vital activity to nurture our relationship with self, and others, and with our environment.

She really enjoys sharing these dances, which work wonders in education, training, healing and recreation. All this with inspiring music and very simple steps which enable everyone to join in. In her workshops she creates a joyful and caring atmosphere where learning is easy and fun!

A  beautiful sense of gracious joy seems to always erupt when Martinne is offering her gifts.

Barbara Herring
All who have  ever partaken in a circle with Barbara
know the joy, the silliness, and the reverence
that Barbara brings to the world around her

Barbara developed, encourages and works within a model of community
co-facilitation, wherein all dancers who so desire can share in the
facilitation of the dance, with Barbara weaving these individual offerings
into a fine and magic tapestry of community. She weaves and co-facilitates
regular Sacred Circle Dance circles in and around Toronto, Canada and has
facilitated dance events in Canada and the USA. Her connection with Sacred
Circle Dance was the subject of a documentary segment of the television
program "Body, Mind and Spirit".

Barbaraís dance sessions run the full breadth from the deeply contemplative
to the traditional to the wild and playful, her heart encompassing the
diversity of the dance community.

Shaker,
Shaker was the first to bring the genre of Long Dance to our circles,
This form has its roots in both mystical Sufism and in Neolithic Temple Dances,
as well as in the wide vocabulary of movement found in Sacred Circle Dance.

This year Shaker will be one of the central facilitators of the camp on Holy Mountain.
He will be bringing some of his new music and dances as well as old favorites to the camp.
There will be an emphasis on the LongDance.

Shaker will also be hosting a circle of deepening in the ways of teaching Sacred Circle Dance.
Both practical considerations and the more subtle awareness with be considered.

and also

Kevin Heartfire Meyer
will be hosting most of the morning LongDance sessions
and will be bringing a new assortment of his choreographies.
Kevin has been exploring and perfecting
a movement form he has called 'Prayer Sculpture.
A few of us have had the opportunity to experience some of Kevin's most recent work
The depth and grace of his creatiuons grow yearly.

Heartfire has some very special gifts for us this year.

and
Anja Daniel,
who is a co-host of the camp on Holy Mountain,
is a true minstrel of circle dances, circle songs and women's ballads.
She has been gathering an inspired group of musicians around her
and will be leading us through reveries of music, song, prayer, laughter and dance.
Anja will be organizing an impromptu band for those folks who wish to join in the joyful harvest
of the music, learn the songs and fill the dance pavilion with live music.
She will also be hosting late night singing circles round the camp fire.

On Tuesday Evening - Rowan (Janet Scott) a godmother of Sacred Circle Dance,
was a member of Bernhard Wosien'soriginal Sacred Dance group at Findhorn in the 1970's.
There are many in the wide community who consider
Rowan to be the embodiment of the spirit of The Dance.
Rowan will again be offering her much loved Tuesday Night Meditation Dance Evening,
for which we dress in white attire and join Rowan in the quiet dances
with barely a word spoken.

Daniel Kinsey  (we are very happy to announce) will be again be running the Children's Program.
He will have the help of two assistants.
He has run the children's program at a number of large Dance Camps for years.
He is a joyful, wise clear spirit much loved by all.  He is also a professional clown.
This is definitely going to be a another great year for
The Children's' Program at Dance Camp!

Alta Wilbur of Canada will be assisted by Lynn Sykulski
in holding the sacred and the sweet energy in the kitchen.
Last year the kitchen was an high point of the camp.
We are truly blessed to have this staff of dervishes at the cooking pot.
Vegetarian cooking with plenty of Vegan choices and an emphasis on Organic
- what more could you ask?
Well, then, please do ask and we will happily provide if we can!
They will be splitting the time in the kitchen heart so that they have plenty of time to dance
You can be sure again this year of happy, healthy tummies and hearts.

Bill Chidsey  will be handling registration for camp.
Don't forget to ask about Work Study opportunities.

and Especially

The Circle Dance Community We intend this year again to truly honor
the dances offered by the various members of the dance community,

These dances and the people who bring them will be integrated into the main program.
